Ruminant Methane Survey Summary Report

Groundswell NZ, NZ Farming, Methane Science Accord

The joint survey of NZ farmers by Groundswell NZ, NZ Farming, and the Methane Science Accord shows an overwhelming rejection of methane inhibiting biotech among grassroots farmers.

Key findings include:

  • 95%     say reducing livestock methane won’t impact global climate change
  • 94%     reject mandatory methane cuts tied to trade
  • 93%     refuse to use methane inhibitors on their animals
  • 88%     wouldn’t eat meat or dairy from treated stock
